Calf Kick Pads for Muay Thai, MMA & Kickboxing
CalfStrike makes two sizes of calf kick pads for controlled low-kick and calf-kick training. Both use the same EVA foam core and PU leather construction, with adjustable hook-and-loop straps for a secure fit. The difference is coverage: the Standard is the everyday pad, while the XL gives you a wider striking surface for heavier reps and larger classes.

Which size should you choose?
Choose the Calf Kick Pad – Standard if you want a reliable, everyday pad for most training scenarios. It is the right size for partner drills, pad rounds, and small-group classes where precision and technique are the focus. It fits easily into a gym bag and is the best starting point for most fighters and coaches.
Choose the Calf Kick Pad – XL if you train with harder strikers, run larger classes, coach newer students, or simply want a wider striking surface that is more forgiving on placement. The extra coverage makes it easier for the holder to catch kicks cleanly without micro-adjusting the pad between every rep.
Both pads are sold individually, so you can pair one with a training partner or stock multiple sizes for a gym. Many coaches keep both on hand: the Standard for technical work and the XL for power and conditioning rounds.
How to use a calf kick pad
Wrap the pad around the lower part of your partner's leg, just above the ankle and below the knee, with the curved face pointing outward. Fasten the straps until the pad feels snug but not restrictive. The holder should stand in a balanced stance with knees slightly bent and should move with the impact rather than bracing rigidly against it.
Start with light, technical kicks to establish rhythm and placement. As form improves, you can increase power gradually within a controlled drill. The pad works well for single-leg calf kicks, switch-leg low kicks, and combinations that end on the leg. Always communicate with your partner, and stop any drill if the holder feels discomfort or the straps begin to slip.
Materials and construction
Both CalfStrike pads use a dense EVA foam core that compresses on impact and rebounds between kicks. The foam gives a firm, consistent feel through repeat rounds, so feedback stays predictable. The outer shell is PU leather, a synthetic leather that resists surface scuffing and wipes clean with a damp cloth after training. Adjustable hook-and-loop straps run along the back of each pad and let the holder tighten or loosen the fit for different leg sizes and drill intensities.
